Recipes with Walnuts

1) WALNUTS FOR YOUR GRANOLA OR AS A SNACK

As we like to recommend to all of you who read us, whatever we are about to eat, we encourage to add textures, flavours, colors and contrasts. Walnuts in cereal is just that!

They have a medium texture, not too crunchy but not too soft either, and the slight bitterness they leave as an aftertaste marries beautifully with the sweetness of the honey or syrup we add to the bowl of milk or yoghurt, if we’re talking about breakfast of course.

It’s the same recipe as granola that can be used anywhere, even as a snack, turned into a “power bar” amidst all the other goodies inside, or enjoyed in a bowl with a spoon, at home or at work.

2) WALNUTS FOR YOUR YOGURT

It’s exactly what we mention in the honey and yoghurt serving suggestion, whole fruit in yoghurt within dried fruit. Combinations of flavors that make our dish the nutritional high light of the day. Walnuts have their own share in the daily nutritional spectrum and are an integral part of the Greek – Mediterranean diet. So, when we have the tart taste and creamy texture of yoghurt, the sweet and runny taste of honey or sweet spoon, the neutral and crunchy taste of cereal and the sub-sweet taste and chewy texture of dried fruit all in one bowl, what’s missing to elevate the senses and awaken all of our taste buds is the sub-sweet yet bitter taste of the genuine, delicious Greek walnut.

And, let me add one more thing. Just because I’m urging you from here to put all of these goodies on your plate, doesn’t mean you’ll necessarily do so, you can pick and choose some of them and leave the rest for another time. So, in Greece, what we usually say will stimulate our body and help it cope with difficult and demanding conditions is “honey and walnuts in our yoghurt”. Simple, quick, beautiful, delicious, nutritious and healthy.

3) WALNUTS FOR YOUR GREEN/FRESH SALAD

For not to repeat myself, I’d say you should read the above just substituting the word “yogurt” for the word “salad”, in my mind it makes the same upgrade and is definitely worth trying.

What you mainly get in the salad is the full body and the chewy feel of the nuts. You 100% get and the nutrients as well, which is the most important thing, but as we say, it’s not just the “intakes”, it’s the overall enjoyment.

4) WALNUTS FOR YOUR SAVORY OR SWEET RECIPES
